If your fondest TV memories involve the POWs of Stalag 13 cleverly outwitting their captors, Schultz stammering "I know nothing!" and Hochstetter threatening to send everyone to the Russian front, then this is the book for you. This fun and informative book takes you behind the scenes of the classic 1960s sitcom to reveal

· the story behind the creation, production, and eventual cancellation of the series
· the controversy surrounding the show's unlikely premise
· interviews with many of the show's stars and crew
· biographies of the stars and supporting actors
· a detailed guide to each of the 168 episodes
· a guide to collecting Hogan's memorabilia
· and more...

Hogan's Heroes is more popular now than ever before, especially in Germany, where it has become a surprising cult hit. In this book, most of the show's stars and behind-the-scenes personnel share their memories and reflect on the series' enduring popularity.

Hogan Heroes Behind the Scenes at Stalag 13 eBook Brenda Scott Royce

I write a lot of reviews and also write pulp fiction.
Therefore, I am always looking for ways to improve
my writing and characters.
I remember watching, Hogan's Heroes, when it first aired.
This book brings back those memories and takes you onto
the set, as well as behind what really went on during the years
the show ran.
Written in 1998, the cast had already lost 3 of it's members, and sadly
of few more since.
The remaining regulars are scattered from New York to Hawaii, so
very seldom do they see each other, if ever, such as is the case with
Richard Dawson. He chooses not to stay in touch with anyone from
the show.
These are some of the stories you will come across in the book.
Step back in time for a few hours, and enjoy the trip.

Hogan Heroes Behind the Scenes at Stalag 13 eBook Brenda Scott Royce Reviews

Blast from the past!!
Very informative and interesting. Nice interview material and quotes. Not as much so for people who already know a good bit about the show, but nice read.
Excellent insight into the show. The Stars of the show give more insight and memories, as well as "where are they now"? Of course, as of this writing of book. Only Robert Clary is still alive. Synopses of every episode. Perfect to pair with the Complete Hogans Heroes boxed set.
Hogan's Heroes is my all-time favorite TV comedy show, not just because of the humor, but because of the interaction of the characters and the World War II setting. I can't think of one single episode throughout the entire course of the series that I don't like for one reason or another. It was well-written, well-acted and well-produced/directed, and deserved more than the few Emmys it received at the time. It's hard to say enough good things about this book, which to date has been the ONLY book on the series! Brenda Scott Royce, herself a long-time fan of the show, did a fantastic job. Just about everything most real fans of this classic and underappreciated TV series could want to find out is here. There are plot synopses of all the episodes of the series and original air dates, sections about each of the main characters/actors, and interesting related information. Only one area is lacking, a slight deficiency of photos. But the end result is still a treasure trove of information, thanks to the author's extensive research and interviews.
It's a great resource for the series, just too bad that there's not much in the way of photos in it. There's just a token few but it's obviously meant more as an episode guide than anything else. After searching the internet, it's the only book on the series that I can find so it is what it is. The information is accurate and useful. There's a tid bid of info regarding Hogan collectibles but no more than a paragraph about it. If this would ever be revised, I'd recommend adding color photos, more behind the scenes and how they filmed it as well as photos and info about the backlot location where it was filmed (Stalag 13 was built on top of the set for Tara from Gone With the Wind right next to the Gomer Pyle USMC and Andy Griffith Show Mayberry sets!). One last suggestion- When they finally release all six seasons of Hogan's Heroes on DVD, this would be a great companion book to go with the set. Maybe that alone would offer the author/publisher to consider a revised edition as suggested.
This is a great book for any big "Hogan's Heroes" fan; it is both entertaining and informative. It gives details about the history, producers, writers etc. of the TV show, and lengthy biographies of the main cast members. The bios are followed by lists of other shows and movies the actors appear in, which is fun as I get a kick out of seeing "Kinch" or "Burkhalter" show up in a different series playing another part. There is also an episode guide which is helpful for finding a favorite show when you can't remember the title. I appreciate how the author told the story of Bob Crane's scandals and murder without sensationalizing the story. All together, I would highly recommend this book; I could hardly put it down!
My favorite show. I watch every night getting ready to turn in for the day. 60's classic show which kept me entertained all these years. I Love This Show!!! I have this book in hard copy. Bought the the moment I found it. Great reference, but I would have liked to have seen more background stories. Episode reference is excellent. This is a Hogan's Heroes must have for any fan. T.Johns
